One Day, Three Worlds: Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald & Lake Thun

Grindelwald: A Private Picnic

From there, the day shifted into something more relaxed. We had arranged a private picnic in a tucked away farmer’s field. While everything was being set up, we crossed a small waterfall to see more of the valley. That’s when a fox darted across the field in front of us. Quick, unexpected, gone before we could fully register it. I took it as good luck. They laughed, delighted.

Then we settled in. Blankets spread out. Swiss cheese, fresh fruit, sparkling drinks. The kind of meal where you lose track of time because nothing is pulling you away. Everything tastes better in mountain air. They ate slowly, soaking it all in. The views. The warmth. The fullness of the day already behind them.

By the time we finished, they were beaming. “We’re so happy,” they told me. “This is perfect. We feel complete.” The heat had definitely worn us down, but more than that, they felt full.
